Paul McHugh is the director of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and the Henry Phipps Professor of Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and the Psychiatrist-in-chief of the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Author of the article "Psychiatric Misadventures," which appeared in The American Scholar, he is also co-chairman of the Ethics Committee of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology. Along with Francis Fukuyama, Leon Kass, Gilbert Meilaender, and Michael Sandel, he is a member of the President's Bioethics Council.
