Robert Royal

Robert Royal is founder and president of the Faith and Reason Institute in Washington, DC and editor-in-chief of The Catholic Thing ( He earned his Ph.D. in comparative literature at the Catholic University of America, and his M.A. and B.A. at Brown University. His past professional posts include serving on the faculty at Brown University, Rhode Island College, and the Catholic University of America. He has also served as vice president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, DC. Royal is the author of Jacques Maritain and the Jews, 1492 And All That: Political Manipulations of History, Reinventing the American People: Unity and Diversity Today, The Virgin and the Dynamo: The Use and Abuse of Religion in the Environment Debate, and The Catholic Martyrs of the Twentieth Century: A Comprehensive Global History.
