Oftentimes the discussions that Ken Myers has with our guests are so rich that it is difficult to determine which segment of an interview to feature on the Journal. From an hour-long interview, perhaps only 15 to 20 minutes make it on the Journal. We occasionally go back to an older interview and decide that it is worthy to be featured in its full length; these extended interviews are catalogued on our website and app as Conversations. For this week’s Friday Feature, we are pleased to share with our listeners excerpts from five newly produced Conversations: J. C. Whitehouse on the novelist George Bernanos, Alan Jacobs on the joy and power of the essay form, Christine Pohl on practices that strengthen communities, Norman Wirzba on what it means to be a creature among other creatures, and Nicholas Carr on automation. Each of these full-length Conversations is available to Mars Hill Audio members. (To explore membership options, click here.)
