On February 7, 2026, the Eliot Society will sponsor a lecture by Heidi White, author of The Divided Soul: Duty and Desire in Literature and Life (Goldberry Press, 2025). The event will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Crownsville, Maryland, at 7 pm. In this lecture, “White will explore the intersection between human psychology, literary education, and Christian spirituality, revealing how the conflict between duty and desire is present in every enduring story—including our own—and what we can do about it.”
