Our flagship product, the MARS HILL AUDIO Journal, is an “audio magazine” featuring over two hours of conversation with perceptive and engaging thinkers on each quarterly digital volume. Guests on the Journal examine the ideas, institutions, preoccupations, and fashionable assumptions that shape our cultural lives. They include scholars from a wide range of disciplines, most of whom are authors of recent books investigating some aspect of our cultural experience and the interaction of ideas, practices, and institutions that have created the conditions in which we now live.
MARS HILL AUDIO Reprints present oral renditions of distinctive articles and essays from magazines, journals, pamphlets, and websites on subjects of cultural significance. Some articles have been selected to complement the content on recent issues of the MARS HILL AUDIO Journal, offering listeners an opportunity to explore a subject in greater depth or from a slightly different angle. Other articles are chosen to provide a primer on important cultural and theological issues.
MARS HILL AUDIO Audiobooks are full-length audio readings of valuable books that discuss in depth some of the cultural areas where the need is most evident to re-discover what it is to be human and to flourish in community.
The Areopagus Lectures were inaugurated to extend the mission of MARS HILL AUDIO into our local community. In launching the Areopagus Lectures, MARS HILL AUDIO hopes to stimulate conversation among our neighbors about how to navigate this time in the Church’s history with wisdom, courage, and hope. By recording these important presentations and the subsequent live discussion, we can share what we are learning here in central Virginia with a wider audience.
MARS HILL AUDIO Anthologies present a provocative assembly of thoughtful and engaging essays, articles, or interviews on a single subject. Each program includes a brief introduction to the topic and suggestions for further reflection. Readings in the Anthologies are read by our host and producer, Ken Myers.
The MARS HILL AUDIO Conversations are extended dialogues with one or two guests. With a typical duration of an hour, Conversations allow a greater depth of analysis and a more extensive exchange of ideas than do our Journal interviews.
MARS HILL AUDIO Reports are a series of audio documentaries creatively exploring ideas, trends, and significant figures that have shaped contemporary culture, telling their stories through studio interviews and field reporting.
Since 2018, MARS HILL AUDIO has been distributing a weekly feature via our digital app. These programs include new and archive interviews, readings from important journal and magazine articles, lectures by important scholars, and the occasional illustrated essay about seasonal music. These Features have typically had a short shelf-life, available for stream for only 3–4 months. But with our forthcoming membership plan, members will have access to hundreds of past Features, and will be able to download them to their app for later listening.
