In this July 2026 lecture, Heather Lloyd uses the legend of King Arthur to explore how to teach classical integrated humanities. A main goal of all teaching, she argues, is to help students grow in discernment and wisdom, and this goal should guide the way literature is taught. This is far from being a moralistic enterprise, however, and instead is a way to teach students to ask deep questions and to seek truth. Lloyd guides her audience of fellow teachers through a series of activities that illustrate how to teach students to wonder, to celebrate what is good, and to hold sacred things as sacred.
